If you're on a custom meal plan the portions are already calculated for you - our meal planner works out the ideal portion size based on your pet's breed, weight, age, activity level and body condition and your meals arrive pre-portioned and ready to thaw and serve. Just remember to keep your pet's details updated in your account. For ready meals consult the feeding guidelines on the pack.
Whichever you're feeding, we recommend that adult dogs and cats are fed two meals a day. Puppies and kittens have smaller stomachs and do best with three to four smaller meals.
If you'd like a custom recommendation based on your pets needs please contact BB support.
Meals are delivered frozen. We recommend that you move up to two days' worth of food from the freezer to the fridge at least 12 hours before serving to give it time to defrost. Alternatively you can sit the sealed frozen pack in room-temperature water for 15-20 minutes just before serving.
For a warmer meal you can use warm (but never hot) water. If the food is too hot for you to touch, it's too hot to serve to your pet. Always avoid defrosting or heating in the microwave as it will start to cook the food from the inside.
Transition gradually over 7-10 days, slowly increasing the proportion of BOM BOM while reducing the current food. This gives your pet's digestion time to adjust. Softer stools in the first few days are common and usually settle - it isn't a sign that fresh doesn't suit them. Some pets take to it straight away; others need a slower pace.
If loose stools are persistent or you're worried, contact BB Support and we will help.
This is common, especially for pets used to kibble or cooked food, and cats new to eating real meat chunks for the first time. Try cutting the pieces smaller to begin with, keep fresh water available and give it time. Pets rarely hold out for long. Increasing treating during this time can actually prolong the fussiness so try to avoid it.
If your pet is still hesitant after a few days contact BB support for more guidance.
Frozen and sealed meals stay good for up to six months in the freezer. Once thawed keep them in the fridge below 4°C and use within three days. Never leave thawed food at room temperature for more than 20 minutes.
